CALGARY, Alta. – The road to Vancouver 2010 goes through Milton, Ont.
Hockey Canada announced on Tuesday that Canada’s National Sledge Team selection camp will take place August
20-23 in Milton, Ont., at the Milton Sports Centre.
Twenty-nine players have been invited to take part in the selection camp, with a final roster of 18 being
chosen on the final day. Those 18 players will then travel to Calgary for Canada’s National Sledge Team
orientation camp, August 24-29.
The selection camp in Milton is the first step of the season leading into the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in
Vancouver. The 18 players chosen from the group in Milton will participate in a number of international
events, including the 2009 World Sledge Hockey Challenge (November 17-21 in Charlottetown, P.E.I). Only 15
players will make Canada’s final roster for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.
“This is an exciting time to be associated with sledge hockey in Canada,” says Jeff Snyder, head coach of
Canada’s National Sledge Team. “Each of the 29 players coming to camp has a legitimate shot at playing for
our team in 2009-10. That means we expect a fast, competitive camp in Milton.”
The sledge players will be on the ice a total of five times in four days in Milton.
