SASKATOON/REGINA, Sask. - The 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship is taking its message to the World Wide
Web.
“The 2010 World Juniors will have a huge Internet presence,” says Ryan Lejbak, director of interactive
media for the 2010 WJC host organizing committee. “We are on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube,
upcoming.org, and we’ve set up a blog at 2010juniors.com, and this is only the beginning.
“We’re posting video, photos and other material from our events and promotional activities right after
they take place. And since the official call for volunteers on April 24, we’re seeing increased activity and
visits on the sites. It’s an incredibly exciting way to promote the event and keep the enthusiasm level
high.”
Lejbak says sites like Facebook and Twitter are for people of all ages. Current statistics show that half
of the social networking users today are over 35 years of age. This emphasis on connecting people online also
allows the host organizing committee to link up instantly with volunteers and world junior fans before the
championship next December.
“People don’t always check their e-mails, but they tend to check their Facebook page regularly and have
Twitter set up to go directly to their phone,” says Lejbak. “We are communicating with hockey fans around the
world and making those connections with people before they ever arrive in Saskatchewan. It’s an awesome way
to show our hospitality and the friendly way we work here.”

About the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship
The 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship (WJC) will take place at Regina’s Brandt Centre and Saskatoon Credit
Union Centre. Round Robin games begin December 26, 2009 in both locations.
Tickets for the 2010 WJC are now on sale through Ticketmaster, either at www.ticketmaster.ca,
1-800-970-SEAT, or any Ticketmaster outlet. Saskatoon’s 21-game package includes round-robin games featuring
Canada’s National Junior Team, the relegation round and all medal round games from $758 to $1178 per ticket
package plus applicable service charges. Regina’s 12-game package, including two pre-competition games
featuring Canada’s National Junior Team and 10 round-robin games, is priced from $383 to $443 per ticket
package plus service charges. There is also an optional ticket package with limited availability that
includes the Regina 12-game package and the relegation and medal round in Saskatoon for a total of 23 games
at $1,048 plus applicable service charges.
